The Comeback 1: Intro

It’s funny to say I’m back to my right senses. Right? Well this is due to the fact that I’m a lazy individual. I start things, nice and lovely things but dump them along the line. What I’m trying to say is that I have lots of abandoned projects hanging around my head. This has been a major defect in my lifestyle. This is a new year with 10 more months to go and lots of things to be accomplished as long as you set your mind to it. Well I’m also a victim of these things (uncompleted projects, not working towards the so called New Year Resolutions…). As a matter of fact, this laziness has been a friend of mine since my Secondary School days and it did contribute to not graduating as the best student but one of the top graduating students. The idea of all I need do is read and pass was my motto back then even right through my undergraduate days and it was a worm which ate my best years (100L – 300L 1st semester) back in school. I was one of the best students in my Secondary School days (JSS 1 to be precise) but my performance dropped when I got to JSS 2 and it was there for everyone to see. The teachers complained, reported me to my mom and things would only get a little better. Well, my performance was expected to sky rocket back to where it belonged but I didn’t take seriously though I tried improving on my academic performance. Well the teachers were somewhat pleased but it wasn’t going to last long.

‘Tomiwo: Yeeeeaaaahhhh!!!! 👀 Don’t blame me, I was a serious dude back then but they all wanted me to be at the fore front of the class claiming the top prizes….but I wasn’t really fascinated ‘bout it.
TheVoice: Are you okay? 😠 Who wouldn’t be excited ‘bout coming top of the class?
‘Tomiwo: I, Me and Myself (the worst trinity)
The Voice: No wonder a girl claimed the top spot…smh
‘Tomiwo: But... 😔
The Voice: Now I know you’re an unserious fellow. It did affect your undergraduate academic performance.
‘Tomiwo: Hmmmm, about that….(scratching my head) 🙎
The Voice: cuts in…. Shut up. See you. You’re talking nonsense.
‘Tomiwo: I’ll turn a new leaf.
The Voice: I hope so and I’m seriously praying 🙏 for the sleeping giant within you be woken up.

            I’ve had to have the conversation above over and over again. I know some of you think I’m crazy but I love having conversations with The Voice right in my head. The Voice tells the truth but does that in a blunt way. Don’t forget I said the lazy bug ate the best part of my undergraduate days. Lemme explain. A fresher has the first three years of his academic stay in the University to build a formidable (strong) CGPA. Well in my own case, I didn’t which was why I had to tighten my belt when I was got to my 3rd year (the second semester to be precise) till I graduated. Well, if not for God…..hmmmm…..where would I be?? Infact, Mi ò mọ̀. There’s an adage in Yoruba which says the starter is not the worker but whoever endures to the end shall be saved. For the Yoruba folks, English translation was poor right? Yes, here’s it in Yoruba;

Ìbèrè kìí se onísẹ́, à fi ẹni tí ó bá forítìí dé òpin ni a ó gbàlà.

Thanks to Hafiz, a colleague and a friend who made this awesome tool for Yoruba Intonation. Basically what the application does is to help insert intonations to Yoruba words. As I was saying going, this year is a year of planned comeback.

(***********The Voice cuts in*************)
The Voice: Na so you dey talk every year for the past 4 years.
‘Tomiwo: Come on, 🙇 just give me another shot at this. I wasn’t like this you know
The Voice: Hmmm. Well let’s try again. But mind you, this time, it must work. I don’t want to know how.
‘Tomiwo: Thanks Voice. 🙋

So as I was saying before the break in transmission, I planned I comeback in order to meet up and go beyond expectations. Are you planning to do the same? Please and please I’m begging you, in fact I’m on my kneels (lols….I’m on my chair o), stage a comeback this year and if possible this month. Writing articles ain’t my thing but I can only perfect it if write articles. I have lots of things planned as part of the comeback. Bringing Back My Blog (BBMG) is one of them. I’m off to a good start, I hope to continue with this.

Admit your mistakes

Today's post is all about you and me reckoning with our mistakes, wrong doings and errors. Believe me when i say no one is perfect, we're all bound to make mistakes and annoy others. It's no longer a new thing to see people who aren't ready to admit their mistakes. If every single soul in this world (i.e. i mean our little planet) fails to admit or reckon with their wrong doings or errors, what would this world look like. I was once a victim of this circumstance but that was in the past. I've made lot of mistakes in my life which has affected me in one way or the other, then i realised it wasn't meant to be that way. When you fail to apologize and make amends for what you've done, you're putting yourself under bondage.
The only way to move forward in life is by admitting your mistakes and make amends. When you admit and apologize, it lightens the burden on your shoulders and makes life easier and bearable. This also causes the other party involved to be relieved and free. No one will challenge you or fight you but you won't feel comfortable. Your conscience will not let your mind to be at rest.
We all should learn to admit our mistakes and make amends.

A Little Truth

There's always a little thing behind every thing. No matter how good or bad the situation might seem to be, there will always be a driving force whether small or big.
Don't ever make conclusions or assumptions if you're not sure of the situation. Try and investigate the whole thing. Let's take a close look at these five(5) LITTLE sentences.

1.    There's always a little truth behind every "JUST KIDDING"
The fact that someone says just kidding does not mean the person's really kidding. All the person wants is for you to question him further and inquire more.
Never give up on someone or an issue even if the person says just kidding.

2.    There's always a little knowledge behind every "I DON'T KNOW"
This is another widely used statement. I don't know doesn't mean the person in question is ignorant, unaware or does not know what is been asked of him/her.
It might be an intentional act in order to arouse your investigative or interrogative mind or spirit.

3.    A little emotion behind every "I DON'T CARE"
Whosoever says i don't care to you actually cares but in a disguised form. The person's only trying to hide his care(caring mind or attitude) from being noticed.
So don't be disappointed whenever says i don't care, instead see it as a source of encouragement. Even if no one shows that they care, don't be discouraged. They really care but won't just show it.

4.    A little love behind every "I HATE YOU"
Don't get upset whenever someone directs the word hate towards you. It's very annoying to hear someone say it to you. No matter what, you've got to take things easy. The person might not actually mean those words.

5.    A little pain behind every "IT'S OKAY".
Most of the people who say it's okay are really going through one difficult situation or the other. While they're in pain, all they'd say is it's okay. Why?. Do you think things are going the way they should?. Not really, but what they're trying to do is to bear their burdens alone. It takes great care to ask further and find out what's actually wrong.

Watchout for these five statements: JUST KIDDING, I DON'T KNOW, I DON'T CARE, I HATE YOU, IT'S OKAY and do what's necessary to solve the hidden meanings and mystery of these words.

WE'RE ALL EQUAL :- Equality Amidst All

It is a general belief that some people are foolish, stupid or rather unwise while some are wise. Some are referred to as dullards, some as brilliant minds with sharp brains. We all have the same size and brain contents but the way we use our brains are quite different. Besides the brain aspect, we are more opportuned than one another because the quality and quantity of things we have access to aren't the same. I still find it amusing that some people out there believe that we aren't equal. We all posses the same characteristics like the nose, eyes, ears, mouth, two legs and so on. If you have the mindset that you aren't equal with others, try to change that. The fact that you're richer, wealthier, more influential than someone else does not make you different but the only thing that has changed is your status or class.
There's this story of a Professor who had a messenger that follows him about. The messenger happens to be an illiterate. One day, the messenger was busy cleaning up the compound but suddenly the Professor called him and asked, Do you know the meaning of TAUTOLOGY?. No Sir, replied the messenger. He was mocked by his boss for being an illiterate and the Professor said to him, 10% of your life had been wasted. The same incident occured the following week when he was asked whether he knew anything about TAXONOMY. The messenger replied, No Sir. The Professor told him that another 20% of his life had been wasted. Some months later, they both went fishing in a boat. As they were fishing, their boat capsized with no one to help. Then the Professor called on the messenger to get him out of the river, the messenger then asked the Professor whether he knew anything about SWIMMINOLOGY. No, replied the Professor thinking he had done justice to the question. The messenger then replied, your whole life had been wasted. Then, the messenger swam away leaving the Professor behind to die.
Never underestimate anyone, they might be of help to you in the future. Have you gained something? I hope you have.
Remember this "BEFORE GOD, WE'RE EQUALLY WISE AND FOOLISH - Albert Einstein".

2010/11 Champions League Final: A Sad Moment

The 2010/11 season of the UEFA champions league has come and gone. The final took place at WEMBLEY stadium in England. I left my house for the viewing centre in order to watch the final between MANCHESTER UNITED and FC BARCELONA. I'm a true and die hard fan of MANCHESTER UNITED. I went there with high hopes but it was cut short when we lost the final. Despite the fact that Wayne Rooney and Park Ji Sung tried their ultimate best to salvage the situation, it was to no avail. The scot(Sir Alex Ferguson) tried his best but the catalans left him dumbfounded. So was i and other fans with the players. I was terrified and sad after the final whistle had gone. It was one of my saddest moments. On getting home, i couldn't sleep. I was still in a sad mood before sleeping late in the night. There's nothing compared to being crowned as a champion. Nevertheless, we (man utd) are still the pride of England. Manchester United for life.
